Dozens of Biomedical Engineering Students at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) earned the golden opportunity to participate in job interviews before their official graduation. The opportunity was granted by the Biomedical Engineering Department to ensure that students would put their expertise to good use.
There were ten students being interviewed by companies focusing on medical and lab equipment in Indonesia. All these companies were licensed by the Ministry of Health. In addition to students, several alumni also took part in the selection process. The interview was held in the conference room located on the first floor of the I building.
Dr. Ir. Aripin, M.Kom., the Head of the Biomedical Engineering Department at Udinus, emphasized that the interview was a strategic step conducted by the department.
Through this interview, the Biomedical Engineering Department could ensure that its students could get a job aligning with their expertise. This interview also served as an attempt from Udinus to bridge students with the industry, allowing them to be prepared to face obstacles by the time they embark on their careers.
Furthermore, Dr. Aripin also explained that the interview was a continuation of the partnership between the Biomedical Engineering Department at Udinus and various national and regional companies. According to him, excellent partnerships with companies were important factors in producing competitive and competent graduates.
“With this interview, students will have a bigger opportunity to connect with the industry. This will make job-seeking easier for them,” he added.
On the other hand, the companies also sought workforces with immense potential per their necessities. Dr. Aripin hoped for the relationship between the academic and industrial sectors to be more harmonious, allowing mutualistic synergies to be made.
“The Biomedical Engineering Department at Udinus will always keep its commitment to expanding its network with various companies to grant our graduates job opportunities,” he hoped.
Ivene Adeline, one of the students being interviewed, revealed that the opportunity was indeed precious for her to gather experience in a job selection process. She hoped to achieve the best possible results by being accepted by a company focusing on medical equipment.
“Being interviewed was a precious experience for me. With such facility provided by the campus, we become more confident and hold bigger opportunities to get a job before our graduation,” she concluded. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Humas Udinus)
