The Faculty of Health Science at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) hosted a sharing and discussion session about the accreditation of the Public Health Department with the recently changed instrument. The event was participated by representatives from twelve different Universities in Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta.

The changes lay in the accreditation instrument, as previously, there were nine criteria, but now there are only eight. The Public Health Discussion itself was held in the conference room on the first floor of the H building at Udinus.

One of the speakers at the discussion, Prof. Dr. Besral, SKM., M.Sc., from Universitas Indonesia, explained that the accreditation of Public Health Education was mainly conducted by the Health Science Education Independent Accreditation Agency (LAM PTKes). He revealed that starting from 2025, there were only eight criteria instead of nine.

“However, the most important part is the approach, as previously they used the quantitative method, which has been changed to qualitative,” he uttered on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

Furthermore, Prof. Besral emphasized that in this newest scheme, Public Health education must prioritize the implementation of E5 (Enact, Execute, Evaluation, Enjoin, and Enhance) in the context of sustainable quality. Furthermore, he also highlighted the significant differences in the excellent accreditation requirements. According to him, previously, there was a requirement like a competence test and OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) that must be at least 80 percent to achieve Excellent accreditation.

“Now, the test and examination is no longer an examination, so every Public Health department will be able to gain a higher opportunity in attaining the Excellent accreditation,” he explained.

The Development of Public Health Education Accreditation

The Dean of the Faculty of Health Science at Udinus, Enny Rachmani, S.K.M., M.Kom., Ph.D., warmly welcomed the discussion as anticipation toward the development of public health education accreditation. According to her, the field of public health has faced various challenges over the past several years.

“Thankfully, we are now gathering here to respond to various advancements made in the field of public health. This is a huge challenge, particularly in transforming the curriculum in the big data era,” the dean said.

Enny also emphasized the importance of faculty members guiding students so their competence will align with the modern era. With the discussion, universities are expected to be more prepared to face changes in the accreditation system, as well enhancing the sustainable public health education quality.

“We were taught in the past, but we must guide our students to be prepared in the future. This is indeed a monumental challenge. Therefore, let us ensure public health students hold the competence, as the future is in their hands,” he concluded. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Humas Udinus)
