Food giveaway is indeed a routine agenda at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) that has long been awaited in the Holy Month of Ramadan, particularly by students. Every day during Ramadan of 1446 H, Udinus gives away a total of 1,500 portions of food as a way to express compassion and love to each other.

The event is initiated by the Muslim Activity Center at Udinus, with the aim of the locals who happen to be on campus. The food giveaway takes place in two mosques on campus, including Baitul Ilmi Mosque (near the H building) and Baitul Muttaqin Mosque (near the D building).

The Chief of the Muslim Activity Center at Udinus, Edy Mulyanto, S.Si., M.Kom., explained that there were several activities conducted as a part of Ramadhan on Campus. He explained that the food was varied, allowing students of faculty members to enthusiastically look forward to Iftar.

“The food giveaway is an attempt from Udinus to help those who are tired from work and school around the campus. Through this giveaway, they would not have to look for food outside. Everything here is free of charge for those who fast,” Edy revealed.

The food giveaway has indeed been the most awaited moment by the academic community, particularly students. It’s evident by how enthusiastic they wait in line for the food.

During his interview, Abda’ Assidiq, a Management student, admitted that the food had been helpful for students who lived on their own. This is because they can save money and prioritize their other needs. Additionally, it can also be an option for students who cannot prepare food for Iftar for various reasons.

“I think this is really helpful since I can spend my money on something else, and I don’t have to worry about food for iftar,” he uttered.

The Holy Month of Ramadan is indeed a month of grace and benevolence. Should one ever cast kindness to others, they would garner much more in return. This food giveaway at Udinus is a form of compassion from the campus toward students, faculty members, and locals. It also encourages us to be caring for our fellows.

As additional information, Ramadhan on Campus juga dilengkapi dengan kegiatan penuh kebaikan lainnya. Kegiatan tersebut mencakup kajian menjelang buka puasa, salat tarawih berjamaah, dan ditutup dengan tadarus Al-Qur’an. (Humas Udinus/Haris. Foto: Dok. Pers Kampus Wartadinus)
