GREETINGS FROM
The Head of the Bachelor of Environmental Health
Dr. Drs SLAMET ISWORO MKes
The global shift in the social and economic landscape is characterized by the growth in revenue followed by advancements in knowledge and technology. Globalization plays a crucial role in environmental health, which, in turn, impacts the workforce's ability to address the health issues it presents.
The establishment and development of normative values for human resources infrastructure are vital complements to regional resources. This includes enhancing the competencies of Bachelor of Environmental Health professionals and addressing fundamental sanitation issues, particularly environmental pollution, prevalent in Java Island and major cities across Indonesia. Within the framework of the National Health System, the presence of environmental health workers is duly acknowledged. The Health Workers Law underlines that health professionals encompass doctors, dentists, Public Health Nurses, and Environmental Health Workers. In the health care system, especially in health centers, environmental health workers (particularly sanitarians and environmental health experts) are very important personnel in the health care system. To achieve excellence in this sector, environmental health experts must proactively control microorganisms before they have the chance to interact with humans. Indonesia is in need of a new breed of environmental health expertise, and it's not only necessary but also attainable. In the era of globalization, Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) take on a pivotal role. Likewise, various personnel categories such as risk management, including Health AMDAL, Environmental Health Risk Analysis, ISO 9000, and Environmental Health Auditors, must be integrated into the national healthcare system (SKN) and regulated under Health Workers Law.
In other words, the need for Environmental Health Human Resources is undergoing a transformation in line with global changes and the socioeconomic level of our society. This has an impact on the provision of Environmental Health Human Resources in Indonesia.
