Determined to improve the competence possessed by laundry SME owners, the Undergraduate Management Department at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) taught them how to make a financial report properly. These laundry business owners were part of the “Laundry Business Association of Pemalang, Pekalongan, and Batang (Ilalang).”
The training program, taking place at the Svasana Creativity Space, Pekalongan, was attended by 35 SME owners, and they were taught about proper financial management. At the program, the participants were guided step by step on how to make a financial report, including the simple ones. Certainly, this training hosted by the Management Department featured expert speakers primarily consisting of faculty members, namely, Nandha Adhi Purusa, S.E., M.E., Linda Ayu Oktoriza, SE., MM., and Suhita Whini Setyahuni, SE, M.Ak.
Suhita Whini Setyahuni, SE., M.Ak., the Leader of the Community Service team, explained that this training program aimed to enhance the ability of these laundry SME owners, particularly in accounting and writing financial reports. Suhita further explained that the learning materials were delivered through a workshop, and on the same occasion, participants directly practiced the knowledge they had only learned.
“With this program, participants are expected to understand how to write financial reports. This will later allow them to make proper and systematic financial reports,” she explained.
One of the most common problems encountered by the participants is that bookkeeping is often done manually. As a result, it often leads to the business ceasing to develop. This is because manual bookkeeping takes time and effort, resulting in financial reports from the previous period vanishing and disappearing.
“We are committed to pushing these SME Owners to adapt to the technological advancements. In addition, we would also like to teach them about marketing strategy, product design, and innovation, as well as financial report writing based on the EMKM standard,” Suhita added.
Meanwhile, Casim, the Chief of Ilalang, expressed his gratitude to the Department of Management at Udinus. According to him, this training program would allow him and his members to manage financial aspects in accordance with the established standard.
“This program has been helpful to us, and now we know how to manage finances properly, particularly in terms of bookkeeping and financial reporting,” he concluded. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Dok. FEB)
