Hundreds of faculties and instructors within the Computer Science Faculty at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) Semarang and Kediri participated in the ‘Wonderland FIK,’ wearing traditional outfits from various regions. The event, which was a part of the 2022 Dinus Inside, welcomed freshmen of the 2022/2023 academic year. It was held at the parking lot of the G building at Udinus on Tuesday, August 30th, 2022.
The event entitled ‘Fashion Show’ was participated by 200 faculties and instructors of the Computer Science Faculty. It was themed ‘Harmony Creation of the Computer Science Faculty for the Nation.’ The faculties were seen wearing traditional outfits from both Java and Bali.
On that occasion, several prominent figures were present, namely, Dr. Drs. Abdul Syukur, M.M.—the Dean of the Computer Science Faculty—, Dr. Ahmad Zainul Fanani, S.Si., M.Kom—the Vice Dean I of the Computer Science Faculty—, and Affandy, M.Kon.,—the Vice Dean II of the Computer Science Faculty. Furthermore, hundreds of other faculties from various departments within the Computer Science Faculty were also present.
During his interview, the dean was thankful for Udinus being able to garner 4127 new students. Those students came from various regions in Indonesia. This fashion show was hosted to showcase the diverse culture of Indonesia. Thus, students could safely express their cultural identity.
“This is our step to push students to preserve their cultures. This is because we will eventually pass our torches to these students, particularly as the main contributors,” he uttered.
There were also judges assessing the costumes, including Dr. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., —the Vice Chancellor III of Student Affairs—, Lakshiputri Arnindita, S.Sos., M.M., —the Head of the Dian Nuswantoro Foundation. Those two judges also appeared wearing traditional outfits.
One of the participants, Dr. Rahmawati Zulfiningrum, S.I.Kom., M.I.Kom.,—the Head of the Communication Department—claimed that the event ran enthusiastically. She revealed that the 2023 Dinus Inside was indeed a moment for faculties and instructors alike to familiarize themselves with new students. This time, the theme was like a fashion week showcasing traditional outfits from various regions.
“In addition to faculty members, students who participated in the 2023 Dinus Inside online also wore traditional outfits. Thus, the diverse atmosphere could become more prevalent, allowing students to be more informed concerning the importance of diversity,” she revealed wearing a traditional outfit from Minang.
New students of the Computer Science Faculty at Udinus were also obliged to make an Instagram reel video by wearing traditional outfits from their respective regions. The short video spanning 30 minutes was well received by the freshmen, as many of them participated on the second day of the 2023 Dinus Inside. (Humas Udinus/Haris. Foto: Humas Udinus)
