Joining organizations is not mandatory for students of Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus). However, through organizations, students could expand their relations. Dinda Sarawati, a Communication Science student at Udinus, does exactly this.

Dinda explained that organization served as a platform for her to self-improve and discover many things, including knowledge and hobbies. According to her, gathering relations was the most crucial one as it may be helpful before pursuing her career in the industry.

“I have joined many organizations, two of which were Hore Heroes and 1000 Digital Startups. Apparently, by tying relations, I could earn tons of personal experiences,” Dinda uttered.

Dinda, born on September 18, 1997, in Semarang, revealed that before being active in organizations, she was but an ordinary student with a lot of free time within her grasp. However, upon seeing her fellow students being busy with organizations and their respective activities, she became determined to follow in their footsteps. “Back then, I was only a normal student with nothing but free time, and I would say that a student, particularly in the field of Communication Science, must often communicate and engage in organization activities as it might function as a platform to practice their public speaking skills. I myself initially joined a social-oriented organization so that I could interact with many people,” she revealed.

Through her organizations, Dinda has garnered many accomplishments, including a runner-up at the 2017 Miss Internet and a nomination at the 2018 Accomplished Students Election.

She encouraged her fellow students to utilize their status as college students to its fullest, not only academically but also by being active in organizations. Through organizations, students could easily get job opportunities as they had many relations within their palms. “I would heavily recommend you to live your college life at its maximum by enhancing your social skills. This is because there have been a lot of cases where the clever ones were surpassed by the communicative ones,” Dinda concluded. (Humas Udinus/lex/AT)
