In this era of rapid development, culinary businesses are gradually becoming more popular and good business opportunities. In response to this phenomenon, the Hotel Management Student Association at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) hosted the 2023 Cooking Competition for high school students on the fourth floor of the G building.

The competition took place in the hospitality lab at Udinus. This lab will later be utilized by students to practice aspects concerning hospitality. In addition to the Cooking Competition, there were also two additional contests, including Making Bed and Towel Arts, as well as Creative Video. Unlike the Cooking Competition, those two contests were held online. The competition, entitled the Hospitality Competition, was participated by dozens of high school students.

Genta Bernard Mahardika (the Head of the Hotel Management Student Association) explained that this competition served as a stepping stone for students to hone their competence in the field of hospitality through a fair competition. Moreover, it could also introduce those students to the Department of Hotel Management at Udinus, as well as the facilities owned by the department.

“The 2023 Hospitality Competition is also among our many work programs, and we also see that our participants spark enthusiasm in participating in our event. To make things better, we also feature competent judges,” Genta uttered.

Meanwhile, Dr. Kusni Ingsih, M.M. (the Vice Chancellor III of Student Affairs) hoped for this competition, which was a part of the 2023 Dinusfest, to garner more young talented cooks. These cooks will later reinforce Udinus, Central Java, and even the Indonesia contingent. Furthermore, the data shows that participants scattered from many regions in Indonesia participated in the 2023 Dinusfest.

“With these young talents, we would like to present them scholarships if they could be accomplished both on national and international levels,” she concluded.

In addition to sports, the 2023 Dinusfest was enlivened by other kinds of competitions, including arts and scientific papers. With more than 63 contest categories, the 2023 Dinusfest was participated by 5124 students. Furthermore, there will also be a singer from Jakarta, Denny Caknan, performing for these students on January 29th, 2023. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Humas Udinus)
