The Visual Communication Design students from Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) once again hosted the final assignment exhibition. The exhibition served as a reference to how capable the students were as artists.

The exhibition took place in the Gallery on the first floor of the H building, with 33 students showcasing their artworks. The exhibition, entitled ‘HIVI: Hi Visionary, Hi Recovery,’ was hosted for two days, from January 31st to February 2nd, 2023.

Naufal Andi Yodha, the secretary of the exhibition, explained that the ‘HiVi: Hi Visionary, Hi Recovery,’ was chosen as the theme since it bore deep meanings. The word Visionary represents their vision and mission upon graduation. Meanwhile, Recovery signifies the steps taken by students to enliven the creative industry once again during the post-pandemic era.

“We would like to recover and convey our passions toward the creative industry, allowing us to create even more innovative works,” Naufal uttered.

The exhibition also successfully attracted faculty members and students alike. Those visitors came to see and try every work created by Visual Communication students.

Meanwhile, Ali Muqodass, S.Sn., M.Kom., the exhibition coordinator, stated that the event served as a platform for students to showcase their talents and capabilities before ending their studies. According to him, the making process of some of those 33 artworks spanned months. In addition to their final assignments, those artworks could also benefit the general public.

“Some of those artworks could potentially serve a great cause to the general public. This is because we taught our students to equip their works with a practical purpose to solve problems surrounding the general public, particularly within the scope of Central Java,” he uttered.

He further revealed that the exhibition was routinely hosted every semester by students who had finished their final assignments. This is because the exhibition also serves as a requirement for the thesis defending session. Moreover, Ali also stated that the exhibition could hone students’ capability before embarking on their careers in the industry.

“Our job as a faculty is not only limited to graduating our students but also ensure them to be able to work their way to the industry. In addition, we are also tasked to guide these fresh graduates to enliven this world through their fields of expertise,” he uttered.

He also hoped for the next exhibition to produce more creative and better work that could inflict positive impacts on the general public. Additionally, he also looked forward to more artworks with the capability of resolving real-world problems.

“Hopefully, next year, students can surpass us, and we would also like to hope for those artworks to also resolve various problems surrounding the public,” he hoped. (Humas Udinus/Haris. Foto: Humas Udinus)
