Three students from Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) earned three medals for the Central Java contingent at the 2022 National Sports Week XVII in the Taekwondo sports branch. The sports week took place in Padang, West Sumatera.

Those students were Dinda Putri and Dwita Isriyah, both of whom are Undergraduate Management students. Meanwhile, Shaleha Fitriana was a Postgraduate Management student.

The dedication shown by those three Taekwondo athletes led to them earning two gold medals and a bronze medal. The gold medals were attained by Dinda Putru and Shaleha Fitriana for the Central Java contingent. While the bronze medal was grasped by Dwita Isriyan.

During her interview, Dinda, one of the two gold medalists, was glad and proud of herself for winning a gold medal, as well as making a name for the campus. According to her, it was a token of pride to serve the Central Java and Udinus contingent in the National Sports Week.

“Hard work will always come to fruition, and I am proud of myself for grasping a gold medal as well as becoming a symbol of pride of Udinus. As for the preparation for the National Sports Week, I had essentially given my best during my training with my fellow athletes,” Dinda revealed.

Dr. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., the Vice Chancellor III of Student Affairs, congratulated those three athletes for their phenomenal achievements. She further mentioned that the academic community would always give more support to talented athletes competing at the National Sports Week XVII.

“We hereby congratulate these three talented Taekwondo athletes for their magnificent efforts for both Central Java and Udinus. Additionally, we also saw their excellent performances at the National Sports Week,” she concluded.

At the National Sports Week XVII, Udinus sent ten athletes in three different sports branches, namely, Taekwondo, Karate, and Wall Climbing. Those ten athletes consisted of five Taekwondo athletes, two Karate athletes, and three wall climbing athletes. Five of those Taekwondo athletes were Fahad Abdur Rahman, Devi Ade N, Dwita Isriyan K, Dinda Putri Lestari, and Shaleha Fitriani Y. Meanwhile, two of the Karate athletes were Hera Irnandha and Getta Shafada A. As for the wall climbing athletes, Udinus sent Aditya Tri S, Bhetari Toto D, and Berthdigna Devi S.K to represent the Central Java contingent.

The National Sports Week XVII took place in Padang, from November 17th to 27th, with 14 sports branches being featured at the event. Roughly 2.959 athletes from all 34 provinces in Indonesia were present to represent their respective contingents. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Dok. Bima)
