It has essentially become a tradition for Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) to host a thanksgiving-like event involving cutting a pyramid-shaped rice serving known as tumpeng. The event was attended by the whole academic community and activists from student organizations at Udinus. The entire procession took place on the first floor of the G building at Udinus on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024.
The once-in-every-year moment began with a tumpeng-cutting session. The tumpeng would later be symbolically handed by Tri Rustanti, S.E., M.M., (the Head of the Dian Nuswantoro Foundation) and Prof. Dr. Ir. Edi Noersasongko, M.Kom., (the Chancellor of Udinus) to the Dean of the recently-established Medicine Faculty, Dr. dr. Hendriani Selina, SpA(K)., and Falih Patria Fatahilah (the President of the Student Executive Board at Udinus).
The chancellor explained that the event was a form of gratefulness to the Almighty God for allowing Udinus to receive 3,657 new students. This event also marked the beginning of a new academic year.
Additionally, Prof. Edi also expressed his gratitude toward the public for trusting Udinus as a place or institution to study. “This event shall mark the beginning of the academic year. This is truly a moment to be grateful for, as we could get the public to trust us as an educational institution. To teach them the importance of being grateful, we also invited several student representatives to join us,” he uttered.
Falih Patria Fatahilah, the President of the Student Executive Board at Udinus, was also seen attending the event. This event was also a perfect momentum for activists and new students in beginning their studies this academic year.
“Through this event, we collectively hope for our studies to go well. Not only that, this event also motivates us to adapt to the brand-new environment and atmosphere on campus,” she concluded.
The event was a form of gratefulness for the fact that Udinus had received new students from across the nation. According to Falih, this number of students was a form of accomplishment on its own, and she hoped for Udinus to reach a new peak. (Humas Udinus/Haris. Foto: Humas Udinus)
