Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) gave a platform for linguistic researchers to resolve problems in the field of linguistics, literature, and culture. The platform was initiated by the Humanities Faculty at Udinus in the form of a seminar on Translation, Applied Linguistics, Literature, and Cultural Science entitled the 2024 Struktural.
The seminar was participated by roughly 300 participants and was hosted online through the Zoom Meeting platform on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. The event was opened symbolically by Prof. Dr. Pulung Nurtantio Andono, S.T., M.Kom.
Following that, Dr. Setyo Prasiyanto Cahyono, S.S., M.Pd., the Committee Head of the 2024 Struktural, reported that the theme of the seminar was ‘Multifaceted Challenges in Language, Literature and Culture: Overcoming Crisis in Digital Era.’ It also featured domestic and global linguists and experts in technology.
“On this occasion, every speaker will highlight problems occurring in the field of linguistics, literature, and culture amidst the development of the digital era per their respective expertise. Thus far, there are 111 papers that will be presented before these speakers,” he explained.
The speakers included Prof. Federico Federic from the University College of London and Susanto, S.S., S.H., M.Hum., M.A., M.H., Ph.D., from Universitas Bandar Lampung as the first speakers. Meanwhile, the other speakers were Dr. Annisa R. Beta from the University of Melbourne, Hasnul Insani Djohar, Ph.D., from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, and Dr. Akhmad Saifudin, M.Si., from Universitas Dian Nuswantoro.
During his opening speech, Dr. Raden Arief Nugroho, S.S., M.Hum.—the Dean of the Humanities Faculty at Udinus—expressed his gratitude to all the speakers for attending the seminar to exchange ideas and build connections. He also encouraged students to utilize this diversity of thoughts without spreading misinformation.
“Through the presentations from speakers and paper discussion from participants, this seminar is expected to cause a new emergence of insight and ideas to resolve tangible problems in the field of linguistics, literature, and culture. This annual event will always be committed to facilitating young researchers in conducting linguistic research,” the dean emphasized.
All 111 papers were sent by domestic and global participants and will be presented to the speakers through the Breakout Rooms on the Zoom Meeting platform. The seminar will be divided into two sessions, namely, presentation and discussion, which will be hosted according to the schedule.
