Intimacy with the industry is heavily necessary for academic institutions to facilitate graduates to embark on their careers in the professional realm. This specific principle is adopted as a foundation by Program Diploma Rekam Medik dan Informasi Kesehatan (RMIK) at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) to initiate a Coordination Meeting with Hospital Clinical Instructors.

The coordination meeting also served as a platform to align their perception of the competence target that should be achieved by students. This meeting was specifically hosted to facilitate medical records students in doing their fieldwork (PKL).

The Coordinator of Fieldwork Programs, Arif Kurniadi, M.Kom., explained that the Coordination Meeting with Hospital Clinical Instructors involved various hospitals in Semarang City and Semarang Regency, as well as Kendal Regency. Clinical instructors from all these hospitals were present, who will foster students in their fieldwork.

“A hundred sophomore medical records students will later conduct their fieldwork in this period. In fieldwork, it is important for us to involve hospitals and health centers. This fieldwork is expected to be a form of provision for students to work in a medical facility upon their graduation,” he explained.

Moreover, Arif revealed that the fieldwork was mandatory for all students. This is because it is a way to test their skills and prepare them to be experienced graduates, with competitiveness in the industry, considering the intense competition in the job market nowadays.

“This is also a commitment from the Diploma of the Medical Records and Health Information Department to preparing its graduates to be job-ready and competitive in the professional industry.” he continued.

With this coordination meeting, the Diploma of the Medical Records and Health Information Department, as a vocational institution, proved its focus on producing skilled and job-ready graduates.

“Through this meeting, the industry and academic institutions can build intimacy and partnerships to educate students and implement the Tri Dharma Tenets,” he concluded. (Humas Udinus/Penulis: Ika. Editor: Haris. Foto: Humas FKes)
