Committed to adding new research, Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) Semarang was chosen as a host of the Socialization about Science and Technology Index (Sinta). Hundreds of representatives from other universities in Central Java were present in that discussion session.

The event was a product of collaboration between the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology and the Research and Community Service Institution at Udinus (LPPM). It was hosted on the second floor of the Grand Candi Hotel Semarang. The socialization opened with an opening speech delivered by Dr. Eng. Yuliman Purwanto, M.Eng—the Director of LPPM at Udinus. Then, it was followed by a speech presented by Adhrial Refaddin, SIP., MPP—the head of the general division at the Higher Education Service Agency (LLDIKTI) of Central Java.

On that occasion, Dr. Pulung Nurtantio Andono, S.T.,—the Vice Chancellor IV of Research and Partnership Affairs at Udinus—also made an appearance, alongside Prof. Dr. Ir. M. Faiz Syuaib M.Agro., I.P.U.—the Director of the Research, Technology, and Community Service Division at the General Directorate of Higher Education (Dirjen Dikti).

Sinta is a webpage or online scientific portal managed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. It houses nationally accredited scientific journals.

During his speech, Dr. Pulung Nurtantio Andono, S.T., M.Kom., stated that this socialization was crucial for faculties. This is because Sinta holds a great influence in the rank procession of these faculty members. “Sinta also has an extensive influence, as we can see the work performance of our faculties, particularly in terms of scientific publications,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Dr. Eng Yuliman Purwanto, M.Eng explained that this socialization aimed to inform that the Science and Technology Index or Sinta had currently been updated to version 3.0. According to him, several expert speakers were also invited to share their knowledge with the audience.

“We hoped for this Sinta socialization to be informative to the audience, especially the LPPM Verificator of Central Java, as a portal hosting scientific journals,” he uttered.

At the socialization, participants were informed about national journal identification, accredited national journals, and reputable International indexation. In addition, participants also learned how to update research data, community service, and numerous features held by Sinta. This specific information was given by three speakers from Universitas Islam Sultan Agung Semarang (Unissula), namely, Rusmal Firmansyah S.Kom., Gufron, S.T., M.Kom., and Sam Farisa CH S.T., M.Kom.

Currently, the online scientific portal is managed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. It is currently undergoing further development to simplify the portal both for verifiers and faculties. As stated by Prof. Dr. Ir. M. Faiz Syuaib M.Agro. I.P.U., Sinta is also a reference for countless researchers in Indonesia to make scientific journals.

At the socialization, he also asked the audience for feedback so that Sinta could be further improved. “Sinta is essentially ours, and we must also be objective, factual, and motivated to further improve it,” he concluded. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Humas Udinus)
