Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) concluded 2024 with a prideful accomplishment on an international level. Udinus, located in the downtown of Semarang, has successfully placed itself in the QS World University Rankings (WUR): Asia 2025. This shows that Udinus’ education quality is formidable compared to other universities in Asia. This feat also reflects Udinus’ attempt to improve its academic quality and competitiveness.

The QS WUR: Asia 2025 grades universities using various indicators, including their reputation within the realm of academics and industry. Additionally, it also uses other indicators, such as international publications, the ratio between students and lecturers, partnerships with institutions from overseas, the proportion of foreign students and lecturers, and the number of lecturers with doctoral degrees.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Edi Noersasongko, M.Kom., the Chancellor of Udinus, expressed his pride in this accomplishment. According to Prof. Edi, the fact that Udinus was included in the QS: WUR.: Asia in 2025 and secured 169th place on the South East Asia level was among many attempts by Udinus to improve its education and research quality.

“This accomplishment would not be ours if it were not for the dedication shown by the whole academic community. The grading indicators used by QS WUR: Asia 2025 serve as important aspects for Udinus to improve and evaluate,” Prof. Edi emphasized.

Indicators like academic reputation and international publications show that the educational and research quality at Udinus can contend with other Asian universities. In addition, the number of lecturers with doctoral degrees can also serve as an indicator for Udinus to stand its ground on the international level. Moreover, Prof. Edi hoped for this accomplishment to motivate the campus to improve its educational quality, as well as further establish academic connections on the global level.

“We are committed to innovating and developing the potential of our students, allowing them to face the industry properly. Hopefully, this ranking will push students to be more competitive internationally,” he uttered.

With the inclusion of Udinus in QS: WUR: Asia 2025, Udinus is expected to attract more students and instructors to study and teach at Udinus. The campus also hopes to improve its contribution to the development of higher education in Indonesia. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Humas Udinus)
