Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) keeps showing its capability to achieve national feats. At the awarding session of the 2024 Abdidaya Ormawa (an empowerment event involving student organizations), Udinus managed to garner six different awards, proving its commitment to pushing students to innovate and bring positive impacts to the general public.
The awarding session took place in the Widya Sabha Auditorium at Universitas Udyana, attended by hundreds of students from various Indonesian universities. One of the most astounding accomplishments was earned by the Student Executive Board of the Computer Science Faculty (BEM FIK) at Udinus.
The Student Executive Board managed to get three different awards. These awards include second place in the Most Innovative Team in Technology and Social and the Most Informative Video title. These awards were garnered through their Sustainable Tourism Development Program implemented in Tajuk Village, Semarang Regency. The other accomplishment was achieved by Zahrotul Umami, M.I.Kom., who was the Supervising Lecturer of the program conducted by BEM FIK. She was chosen as the third Most Innovative Supervisor.
In addition to the awards earned by BEM FIK, Udinus also managed to garner other awards. These awards include the Student Council Representative in the Computer Science Faculty (DPM FIK) being awarded as the second-best team in the Using Real Support category. Meanwhile, the Information Systems Student Association (HM SISFO) at Udinus also managed to secure third place in the Most Innovative Student Organization Category. Furthermore, Udinus was also awarded as the third most active university.
During her interview, Prof. Dr. Dra Kusni Ingsih, M.M., the Vice Chancellor III of Student Affairs, asserted that the awards proved that Udinus was committed to supporting every innovation of its students.
“We are so proud of these accomplishments, and hopefully many more creative programs will be hosted to impact the public in a positive way,” Prof. Dr. Dra. Kusni Ingsi, M.M., uttered.
Empowering the Locals Through Smart Tourism
With six different awards bestowed upon Udinus, the campus has proved its commitment to supporting students in innovating and contributing their knowledge to the public. This success also further emphasizes the importance of campus in providing an education ecosystem to students. This ecosystem also concerns the field of social and humanity in addition to academics.
Nadya Sekar Nalaratih, the Chief of the Student Organization Capacity Building Program (PPKO) of BEM FIK at Udinus, expressed her gratitude for being able to earn three awards at the 2024 Abdidaya Ormawa. These awards were the products of dedication and cooperation shown by students, lecturers, the public, and other involved parties. Nadya was so proud that she could not believe that she had won a national award.
Nadya continued that the program her team conducted employed the concept of smart tourism and involved the penta helix approach. It involved various parties, including the government, academicians, businesses, communities, and the media. These awards can serve as a motivation for BEM FIK at Udinus to keep innovating, particularly with programs that would benefit the public.
“Hopefully, Tajuk Village that we have previously built can be a sustainable tourist destination that will positively impact the local economy,” she explained.
The success of BEM FIK in achieving awards in two categories was also partially caused by the tangible impact on Tajuk Village. The concept of Smart Tourism introduced in this program aims to improve the local tourism quality, as well as provide economic benefits to the locals.
Through these awards, Udinus further strengthens its position as one of the most prominent universities in Indonesia that not only focuses on higher education but also community empowerment aspects through innovative programs. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Dok. Kemahasiswaan)
