A wushu athlete from Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus), Angelica Calista Putri Julianto, secured accomplishments at a prestigious event. At the event, Angelica, an English student at Udinus, successfully earned two achievements at once, on December 13, 2024.

Angelica earned her triumphant victories at the 2024 Central Java Wushu Cup. At the competition, she successfully won first place in the Women’s Senior Taijiquan category with a total of 9,250 points, as well as first place in the Women’s Taiji Jian category, with a total of 9,265 points.

“The pleasure is mine to compete for Udinus. At the event, I had to prove my ability against other athletes from Semarang, Salatiga, and Surakarta. This event also served as a reference for the organizer to host other sports events in 2025,” Angelica, who is a freshman student, stated.

As additional information, the event took place at the Pandanaran Wujil Sports Building, Semarang Regency, Central Java. The Taiji Quan category showcases wushu athletes’ hand-to-hand combat competence. Meanwhile, the Taiji Jian category obliges athletes to show their proficiency in using swords or short weapons.

Angelica admitted that she did not have any difficulties in managing her time as both a student and an athlete. Apparently, she has prepared for this competition since November 2024, and she had carefully divided her time between her studies and her training.

“I usually train during my free time, like if I had to attend a lecture at 10 A.M., I would train at 6 A.M. It also applies to similar cases. For example, if I had to attend a lecture in the morning, I would train in the daytime,” he revealed.

Dr. Rindra Yusianto, S.Kom., M.T., the Head of the Student Affairs Bureau at Udinus, expressed his gratitude for Angelica’s accomplishments at the 2024 Central Java Wushu Cup. He expected these achievements to motivate Angelica and her fellow athletes to aim for something greater in 2025.

“Having our students pursue their athletic careers while also prioritizing their studies is indeed among our top priorities. This is because their academic competence is as important as their non-academic careers,” he concluded. (Humas Udinus/Haris. Foto: Dok. Pribadi)
