On Monday, 4th of September, 3.573 new students of Dian Nuswantoro University (Udinus) just started some series of events in Dinus Inside 2017. On the first day of Dinus Inside 2017, it was opened with public lecture given by Mayor of Semarang Hendi Hendrar Prihadi and CEO of Suara Merdeka Kukrit Suryo Wicaksono. On the second day, Udinus held various activities to introduce more the University itself to the new students. The activities were Udinus Care Conservation, social charity to some institutions, Dinus expo, and also University orientation which conducted in every faculty.
Udinus Care Conservation were focused on the activities in Mangunharjo, Tugu District. "This year we planted 3.700 mangrove seeds and sea pine for the conservation activity to welcome the new students," explained Dr. Kusni Ingsih as The Third Vice Rector for Student Affairs who attended this event.
The event was also attended by the Dean of The Faculty of Engineering Udinus, Dian Retno Sawitri Ir. MT, The Head of Student Affairs Bureau Rindra Yusianto, MT, student representatives of each faculty, the representatives of Student Activity Units (UKM), Student council (BEM), students of Excellence Scholarship recipients, foreign students, and Udinus’ lecturers.
"This activity is one of Udinus’ ways to save and protect the environment. Not only academic activities, but also increasing social awareness, because our actions today will determine the future of our children and grandchildren later, "added Kusni Ingsih.
Mangunharjo region has 3.3 KM long coast. "We chose to plant sea pine because Udinus want to help prevent abrasion in the coast of Semarang," said Achmad Wahid Kurniawan, S .Si, M.Kom as The Coordinator of Conservation of Dinus Inside 2017.
Besides mangrove is also home for marine creatures, so by planting mangrove, Udinus can help the environment around Mangunharjo.
On the second day, Dinos Expo was held around the area of D building. And for the next day, the event will be closed by the performance of Sheila On 7 band, to welcome new students with joy. (* PR / ning)
