FEB UDINUS MOTIVATES ITS LECTURERS TO IMPROVE THEIR RESEARCH
To improve the competence and also the number of lecturer’s research in 2018, FEB UDINUS gave an understanding about a research method trough Research Workshop with Experimental Research Method. "Experimental Research Method is a research in which the researcher manipulates one or more variables in a particular way, so it affects one or more variables that are measured. In the use of the method, it is necessary to manipulate at least one variable, control other relevant variables, and observing the effects on one or more dependent variables, "said Dr. Farida Idriani, SE.MM as the speaker of the workshop at Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (UDINUS) on Wednesday, March 14th, 2018.
According to Dr. Farida Idriani, SE.MM, in applying the experimental research method, there are two independent types of variables that can be used, the first one is the variables that are measured based on aspects and the second one is the variables that are manipulated or varied by the researcher. "The two methods can be combined. It is called a hybrid design or factorial design, but in the interpretation, casual is only exist in manipulated variables," She explained.
Dr. Farida Idriani, SE.MM suggested that in conducting Experimental Research Method, involving under graduate degree students are also allowed because under graduate students could help in creating ideas to facilitate researchers to create a research. “Undergraduate students usually have a lot of ideas that come up in their daily life, it will speed up the process of finding ideas, lecturers should keep their ideas in case someone stole it," she said.
The Dean Secretary of FEB UDINUS Dr. Mahmud SE, MM said that the workshop which was attended by approximately 30 lecturers on the 3rd floor of C building, UDINUS, was as an alternative way for lecturers to increase the number of their research. He revealed that the lecturers were only know the quantitative and qualitative methods in general. "The Experimental Research Method is actually a deeper qualitative method and we want the lecturers of FEB UDINUS to keep improving the number of the research in terms of quantity and quality," Mahmud said.
FEB UDINUS will provide stimulus for the lecturers who still have a little number of research, as well as providing training in the writing of scientific papers. If there are more lecturer’s research indexed into national and international journals, then it will help FEB UDINUS in adding achievement data, when it comes to filling up accreditation forms.
"The density of teaching schedule is the problem of lecturers in completing their research. We keep on socializing and providing them all they need to make them more motivated to conduct research which will also give effect to the faculty and also university," Mahmud concluded.
