Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi has officially become a student of Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus). In the future, the Indonesian women's volleyball athlete will study at the Management Program of Udinus.

Her enrollment in becoming a Udinus student adds to the several other national athletes who were granted scholarships by Udinus to continue their education. Currently, dozens of athletes have studied in several majors such as the Bachelor of Management Program and the Bachelor of Communication Science Program. Previously, Megawati and her Proliga club (Professional Indonesian Volleyball League), had played at the Udinus Sports Center (USC) field located on Pamularsih Raya Street, no. 42, Semarang Barat District.

During a post-training interview, Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi, who is familiarly known by the nickname ‘Megatron‘, stated that she was happy to have obtained a scholarship to continue her education at the Udinus Management Master's Program. According to Megawati, education is important for an athlete. A tight schedule of practice and competition can't let her spirit down to attain a master's degree.

"This is such a great opportunity for me to get a higher education, although it will be tough the important thing is that I can continue studying," Megawati said enthusiastically.

Megawati loved volleyball since she was 14 years old. She has played with various volleyball clubs at home and abroad. In 2023, she traveled to South Korea to play for the Daejeon club CheongKwanJang Red Sparks.

The volleyball sport has become her life partner, she has made numerous achievements and awards. Some of them are Best Opposite Best Opposite at the 2022 ASEAN Grand Prix, MVP at the 2022 First Division Livoli, Bronze Medal while defending the Indonesian national team at the 2023 SEA Games, and most recently MVP at the South Korean Volleyball League.

Future Investment

The Vice-Chancellor III for Student Affairs of Udinus, Dr. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., welcomed her for being part of Udinus. It is hoped that the scholarships provided can be fully utilized and able to support Megawati Hangestri in the future.

"We grant Megawati Hangestri a scholarship for the sake of her future. In the next ten years, athletes' careers may not be as bright as the present time, but with this scholarship, they can switch careers or even become entrepreneurs," said Dr. Kusni.
