A Student from Udinus Graduated within only 3.5 Years of Studying Time and Garnered International Accomplishments

Earning both academic and non-academic accomplishments is not an easy task. However, a graduate from Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus), Hera Irnandha, managed to do this very task, as well as get her bachelor’s of Management degree. Hera is a very remarkable karate athlete with countless national and international achievements within her possession.

At the 80th Graduate at Udinus, Hera even managed to complete her studies within only 3.5 years. Her busy schedule as a professional athlete did not hinder Hera from completing her studies. Furthermore, her achievements were not ordinary ones as she was able to win first place in the Women’s 68kg Kumite Category at the 2023 International Semar Cup. At the same event, she also earned the Women’s Best of the Best title.

During her interview, Hera was proud for being able to finish her studies early, while at the same time maintaining her life as an athlete. Then, she further revealed that she did encounter some problems during her studies, particularly time management.

However, the campus always helped her to quickly finish her studies. In addition, Hera also felt grateful for the faculty members in the Management Department's utmost understanding concerning her life as an athlete.

“Whenever I was out to train for months, I would eventually given learning materials and the privilege to participate in online mid or final tests. Furthermore, the whole academic community also gave me full support for me to be more accomplished,” she revealed.

Upon graduating, she is committed to honing her skills and representing Indonesia on the international level. Recently, she stated that she would compete at the 2024 Asian University Games in Surabaya.

“For the time being, I would like to focus on my training for upcoming competitions. Hopefully, my studies here at Udinus will eventually benefit me in the future,” she explained.

At the 80th Graduation, a total of 1221 students graduated within three days from April 24th to 25th and May 2nd, 2024. On the first day, there were 409 students graduated, 423 on the second day, and 389 on the third day.

On that occasion, the Head of the Higher Education Service Agency (LLDIKTI) of Region VI Central Java, Bhimo Widyo Andoko, S.H., M.H., was also present to give words of motivation to all graduates. After that, Prof. Dr. Ir. Edi Noersasongko, M.Kom., (the Chancellor of Udinus) and Tri Rustanti, S.E., M.M., (the Head of the Dian Nuswantoro Foundation)., also made an appearance to give an appreciation to Bhimo Widyo Andoko. This whole procession took place in the Poncowati room at Patra Hotel and Convention Semarang.

Appreciation for Athletes

Thousands of graduates from various study programs graduated at the beginning of 2024, with Prof. Ir. Edi Noersasongko, M.Kom., (the Chancellor of Udinus) leading the entire procession. Upon the procession, the Chancellor encouraged graduates to make more contributions to the future of Indonesia. On the same occasion, he also praised Hera for finishing her studies early.

At the graduation, some athletes of various sports branches were given scholarships as a way to ensure their bright future.

“We hereby congratulate all athletes for graduating from Udinus. Hopefully, your studies can benefit both yourselves and the public. Additionally, we also bestow scholarships to the athletes to ensure that their future will be bright. Ten years to the future, their careers may not be as good as they are now, and these scholarships may allow these athletes to get jobs and start businesses,” he explained.

During his interview, Bhimo Widyo Andoko, S.H., M.H., congratulated all 1221 students on their graduation. Furthermore, he also appreciated the way Udinus gave scholarships to its athletes.
