Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) gave researchers a platform to discuss and share knowledge by organizing the 2023 International Seminar on Application for Technology of Information and Communication (iSemantic). That annual seminar was participated by both domestic and global researchers.

This year, iSemantic was hosted from September 16 to 17, 2023, with ‘Smart Technology Based on Industry 4.0: A New Way of Recovery from Global Pandemic and Global Economic Crisis’ as its theme. Additionally, four competent speakers were featured and gave their insight regarding technology and industry.

Those speakers were Prof. Lalit Kumar Goel (a Renaissance Engineering Professor from Nanyang Technological University), Prof. Dr. Ir. Riri Fitri Sari MM MSc (an Electrical Engineering Professor from Universitas Indonesia), Dr. Muhammad Aziz (an Associate Professor from the Institute of Innovative Research, Tokyo Institute of Technology), and Enny Rachmani, BPH, M.Cs., Ph.D. (The Dean of Health Science Faculty at Udinus).

The 2023 International Seminar on Application for Technology of Information and Communication (iSemantic) was conducted on the third floor of the E building and online through the Zoom platform.

The head organizer of this seminar, Dr. Ir. Ratih Setyaningrum, MT, IPM, ASEAN Eng, said this event was participated by contestants who had passed with their papers chosen by the organizers using specific criteria. Furthermore, Dr. Ratih added that the submitted papers would later be inputted to the indexed Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Those criteria included originality, novelty, unpublished, and written in English.

Dr. Ratih further revealed that there were 206 submitted papers and 92 of them would be published, which means that there were 44% of submitted papers accepted at the 2023 iSemantic.

“We filtered various submitted papers in accordance to the Indonesian IEEE Standard and the Global IEEE Standard,” she revealed.

A gong strike done by Prof. Ir. A.N. Afandy, S.T., M.T., MIAEng, MIEEE, Ph.D., (a representative from the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) marked the opening of the 2023 iSemantic. Dr. Guruh Fajar Shidik, S.Kom., M.Cs, (the Vice Chancellor II of the General and Financial Affairs at Udinus), Dr. Kusni Ingsih, MM (the Vice Chancellor III of the Student Affairs at Udinus), Prof. Dr. Pulung Nurtantio Andono, S.T., M.Kom., (the Vice Chancellor IV of the Research and Partnership Affairs at Udinus) also made an appearance at the seminar.

There were several themes discussed at the seminar including, Computer Science and Information Technology, Electronic and Electrical Technology, E-Computation Technology, Language and Literature Study Technology, and the last but not least, E-Health Technology.

Prof. Dr. Pulung Nurtantio Andono, S.T., M.Kom (the Vice Chancellor IV of the Research and Partnership Affairs at Udinus) revealed that the iSemantic Seminar served as an international discussion room and a platform to find the best ideas. Annually, iSemantic features competent speakers in their respective fields of expertise.

“Hopefully, this year iSemantic could induce new ideas to resolve problems surrounding the world,” he concluded.

The 2023 iSemantic was attended by many researchers from 13 different countries including India, Iraq, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Morrocco, Japan, Niger, Azerbaijan, the Philippines, Thailand, the USA, and Indonesia. (Humas/Alex. Foto: Humas Udinus).
