A badminton athlete from Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) proved her worth at the 2024 Panglima Championship initiated by the Indonesian Military Forces to commemorate the 79th anniversary of its establishment. At the championship, Ridya Aulia Fatasya, a Communication Science Student at Udinus, successfully earned the bronze medal.

The championship took place at the Koni Jabar Sports Building, Jl. Jakarta Kota Bandung, with numerous national athletes, military personnel, and police participating in it. It lasted from October 7 to 12, 2024.

Ridya earned the bronze medal in the Women’s Double Category. At the event, she competed for the Kudus Djarum Badminton Club, with her teammate.

According to Ridya, the accomplishment was a product of the dedication she provided thus far. Despite not achieving the best results, she has learned many lessons and experiences at the regional event.

“Garnering a bronze medal is enough for me. From my performance at the championship, I will reevaluate my playstyle, so I can perform my best at the next competition, and achieve better results,” said the student of the 2023 cohort.

As additional information, the 2024 Panglima Championship was participated by national athletes, the Indonesian Military personnel, and the Police Department. A total of 335 matches were hosted at the event, spanning several categories, including the Men’s and Women’s Single categories, the Men’s and Women’s Double Category, and the Mixed Double Category.

Dr. Rindra Yusianto, S.Kom., M.T., expressed his pride for the accomplishment achieved by Ridya at the prestigious championship. According to him, the event also served as a platform to support the commitment of the Indonesian Military Forces to contributing to the improvement of the various national sports branches.

“This support is also a form of commitment from us, the Student Affairs Bureau at Udinus, in encouraging our students to engage in academic and non-academic activities. We will reward our accomplished students with scholarships depending on the level of their accomplishments,” Rindra uttered.

At the closing ceremony of the accomplishment, the Military Commander of Region III and other officials were present. On that occasion, they handed trophies, charters, and reward money to the winners. (Humas Udinus/Haris. Foto: Humas Udinus)
