Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) was regarded as the sixth-best university in Central Java by Scimago Institutions Rankings (SIR) in 2022. In terms of the computer science field, SIR considered Udinus as the seventh-best private university in Indonesia.
This magnificent achievement was earned by Udinus upon showcasing its three assessment indicator aspects. These aspects are used by SIR to rank every university around the globe. The aspects include Research (50 percent), Innovation (30 percent), and Social Impact (20 percent).
For the Research aspects, there are several sub-aspects to be assessed, including journals, international collaborations, availability access, high-quality publications (Q1), and the number of reputable publications cited by the public. As for the Innovation aspect, there are also numerous sub-aspects assessed. Those sub-aspects are the number of publications cited to patent and the number of produced patent applications. There are also several sub-aspects to be assessed in the Social Impact aspect. These sub-aspects include the number of publication mentions on various social media platforms and the number of visitors to the website owned by the institution.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Edi Noersasongko, M.Kom., the Chancellor of Udinus, explained that the rank showed that the campus could become an excellent learning institution by utilizing technology as well as being recognized both on national and international levels. According to him, Udinus would always be committed to developing innovations to benefit the public, as well as to pushing faculty members to conduct more research.
“With the ranking issued by SIR, Udinus successfully became the sixth-best university in Central Java. Henceforth, we will improve the quality of our campus and create more technological breakthroughs for the public benefit,” he emphasized.
Prof. Edi also revealed that this achievement was a fruition of hard work contributed by the whole academic community of various sectors. Furthermore, they will also focus on paper publications as a way to provide beneficial innovations.
“With this accomplishment, we hope for our campus to become a learning institution contributing to improving the education quality in Indonesia. We will also further encourage our faculty members and students to publish more paper publications,” he concluded.
Schimago Institutions Rankings (SIR) is an academic institution classification. It ranks universities based on their composite and web visibility. SIR was founded in 2009, and it has issued rankings of international research institutions since. The rankings are commonly known as the SIR World Report.
The SIR World Report is among many programs conducted by the SCImago Research Group. It is an organization based in Spain.
