Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) hosted a rock-climbing competition toward the Pekan Olahraga Daerah Jawa Tengah (Popda Jateng) in 2023. Gathering talented young athletes across the Central Java Province. This event created new champions in each of the classes.

A total of 155 athletes representing 35 different cities participated in three kinds of competitions. Lead, Speed Classic, and Speed World Record. the wall climbing venue at the courtyard of the D building offered challenging routes for Lead and Speed Classic competitions. Meanwhile, the speed world record competition was held at Jatidiri Sports Arena, Semarang. The award ceremony for the winners was held in the courtyard of the D building as well on Tuesday, June 27, 2023
 
During the closing event, some delegations from Udinus and other regions that took part in the competition such as Dr. Guruh Fajar Shidik, S.Kom. S.Cs., Vice-Chancellor for General Affairs, Finance, and HR at UDINUS. Along with the Student Unit Activity’s Instructor (UKM Aldakawanaseta) Prof. Dr. St. Dwiarso Utomo S.E., M.Kom., Akt., CA. Gave the medal awards to each of the winners of the rock climbing competition.
 
Professor Dwi Dwiarso Utomo, usually known as Prof. Dwi, encouraged all of the young contestants. He stated that as a college, UDINUS gave full support to appreciate all athletes. One of them was by giving USPI Scholarship to each of the current winners. 
 
“We are hoping that this scholarship can be used wisely by the rock-climbing winners. Through this event, we are also selecting young athletes at the student level in Central Java Province to be precise,” said Prof. Dwi. 
 
Rizki, one of the gold medalists, said that the other contestants gave huge pressure, hence consistent training was very needed. To become a champion, he maintained his stamina, diet, including his sleep schedule. 
 
Rizki Said “I feel happy and grateful as well. Some combination of emotions towards battling other contestants remain in my heart. For me, the hardest part is to maintain the speed”. 
 
During this yearly competition, they were some winners in each of the categories. In the men’s speed classic category, Muhammad Risqulla Raffif S G from Banyumas was able to win the gold medal, followed by Batang Regency winning the silver medal and Sragen Regency taking the bronze medal. For the women’s speed classic, the gold medal was won by Natasya Putri Nandhika from Banyumas Regency, afterwards, Salatiga stood in the second position bringing a silver medal, followed by Batang Regency with a bronze medal. 
 
Moving on to the men's speed world record category, Rizki Jelang Ramadan from Batang Regency secured the gold medal. The silver and bronze medals were awarded to the participants from Temanggung Regency and Grobogan Regency, respectively. In the women's speed world record category, Rerynta Alfreandasyahayu A. brought the gold medal back to Batang. Surakarta Regency earned the silver medal, while Grobogan Regency claimed the bronze medal.
 
Muhammad Nidhom Al Wafa from Jepara Regency emerged as the winner in the men's lead category, with Banyumas and Blora Regency securing the silver and bronze medals, respectively. In the women's lead category, Kirana Maharani Setyawan from Karanganyar Regency claimed the gold medal. Batang Regency earned the silver medal, while Sragen Regency took home the bronze medal.
