Semarang Dr. Dhendra Marutho, M.Kom., successfully completed his academic journey at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) by earning a doctorate degree in technology. His doctoral degree was supported by his dissertation entitled ‘Optimization of Aspect-Based Sentiment Analysis Using a Combination of Lemmatization-Sentence Transformers (SBERT) -Spare Attention Mechanism-Bayesian Optimization Based on Deep Learning'.
The open defense session that took place in the meeting room of Building H of Udinus was led by the chief examiner and Chancellor of Udinus, Prof. Dr. Ir. Edi Noerasongko, M.Kom., and went well. Dr. Dhendra became the first graduate of PDIK Udinus this year, confirming the reputation of this program which has been accredited ‘Excellent’ by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) with the certificate number 11405/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/D/X/2021.
Purwanto, S.Si., M.Kom., Ph.D., the head of the Udinus Computer Science Doctoral Program, explained that the superiority of the computer science program lies in the quality of teachers and adequate facilities to support students in the learning process.
"The Doctoral Program of Computer Science at Udinus has been proven to have ‘Excellent‘ accreditation, strengthening our commitment to provide high-quality education," said Purwanto.
The chancellor of Udinus, Prof. Dr. Ir. Edi Noersasongko, M.Kom., appreciated Dr. Dhendra, and hopes that his achievement can make a meaningful contribution to technological progress in Indonesia.
"We are proud of this achievement and are committed to continuing to educate the nation through The Doctoral Degree of Computer Science Udinus," said the Chancellor.
Defending His Dissertation
Dr. Dhendra Marutho, M.Kom., successfully earned his doctorate and was able to defend and publish his dissertation. Dr. Dhendra explained that in his research, he delved deeper into aspects of sentiment analysis by applying several methods at once.
“Currently, sentiment analysis is only positive, negative, and neutral. But actually, just a sentence can be explored more deeply in various aspects. I hope this dissertation can be implemented for further progress," he stated.
Highlighting the quality of learning at Udinus Doctoral Program, Dr. Dhendra appreciates the outstanding education system and the ability of his teachers who guide students toward academic success.
"I am proud to be part of the first batch at the Doctoral Degree of Computer Science at Udinus, a top IT campus in Central Java with an excellent study program and institutional accreditation," he added.
During the development of his dissertation, Dr. Dhendra was mentored by Prof. Dr. Supriadi Rustad, M.Sc., as the main promoter, as well as two Co-promoters, Purwanto, Ph.D., and Dr. Muljono. The open session was also attended by external refuters, including Prof. Ir. Paulus Insap Santosa, M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU, from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM).
With the success of Dr. Dhendra Marutho, who earned his degree, Udinus once again showed its commitment in producing distinguished graduates and contributing positively to the development of technology in Indonesia.
