The 2024 Grobogan Tourism Ambassador Contest was the first contest participated by Salsabilla Diana Putri, who is a Communication Science Student at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus). Salsabilla admitted that she had been prepared for a year for this specific contest.
Her interest in culture has seen an emergence ever since her childhood years. The fact that she was born and raised in Denpasar, Bali, was among the factors in Salsabilla possessed the fondness of cultures.
“I lived in Bali until I was a fourth grader. During my time there, my mom and dad often took me to watch cultural events. The following year, we decided to move to Grobogan,” she revealed.
Salsabilla underwent the phases of the contest rather well, including registration, photoshoot preparations, and quarantine. Salsabilla, born in 2004, uttered that during the quarantine process, participants had to showcase their talents.
According to her, to be a contestant in Tourism Ambassador contests, one must hold high-level confidence, as well as other relevant skills. “One example of these skills is public speaking. Also, it would be a plus if the contestant had other potential talents and skills,” he continued.
Using Her Knowledge From Campus
During her participation at the 2024 Grobogan Tourism Ambassador Contest, Salsabilla claimed that she often encountered cases in which she had to put the knowledge she learned on campus into practice. Despite being only a freshman on campus, she managed to secure the second honorable place.
“To me, the most important thing to learn is communication skills, such as public speaking. With my status as a communication student, I managed to hold my ground at the contest,” she claimed.
Even though Salsabilla had to participate in the contest and study on campus at the same time, she stated that she could balance both of these activities. She did this by putting a scale of how much of a priority an activity is, as well as maintaining good communication with all parties.
After participating in this contest, Salsabilla mentioned that she learned many things.
“It was a fun experience, as I learned a lot of things. Moreover, I’m the kind of person who always yearns for brand-new activities. After my participation in the contest, many brands, including Make-up Artist (MUA) and agencies, invited me to collaborate, with me as the talent and model of their products,” she stated.
“For the time being, I hope to be more productive and able to garner more accomplishments for myself, family, friends, and Udinus,” Salsabilla concluded. (Humas Udinus/Ika. Foto: Dok. Pribadi)
