The Health Science Faculty at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) held a series of events lasting for four days to commemorate the National Health Day on November 12. The event was entitled Public Health Sports Week (Porkesma), employing the theme of ‘Together We’re Moving, Together We’re Healthy'. The event involved hundreds of students and lecturers of the Public Health Department at Udinus, to promote healthy life and tighten their bonds.
The series of events included several activities, including a free check-up service and a futsal competition, which involved all students and faculty members of the Health Science Faculty at Udinus.
Sri Setya Rini, the Head of the Public Health Student Association at Udinus, explained that the futsal competition was a brand-new event hosted to celebrate National Health Day. In previous years, they only hosted free health check-ups.
The event was organized by faculty members and the Public Health Student Association was filled with enthusiasm from students. According to Sri Setya Rini, this occasion marked the beginning of this annual event. She also emphasized the importance of the student’s role in participating in this event.
“With this theme, we would like to add a physical activity like futsal. Hopefully, next year, more students will be interested in our event, and we may also involve other sports as well,” he revealed.
The futsal competition was participated by 800 students of the Health Science Faculty students at Udinus, from freshmen to seniors. However, not all students were playing, as some of them would do their best to achieve the best supporter’s title.
Enthusiasm from Students
Farrel Sakhi Pratama, the head organizer of the event, mentioned that students sparked immense enthusiasm. This is because this was the first time a futsal competition was hosted to commemorate National Health Day.
“Hopefully, our fellow students will keep supporting this event. Not only is this fun, but it will also affect our physical health, and we can also share our bonds together both with fellow students and faculty members,” he added.
With this series of events, the Public Health Department at Udinus proves that National Health Day is not only to be commemorated but also celebrated by involving ourselves in physical activities and social or bonding activities.
“Hopefully, this event will gradually see a growth into something bigger. Currently, the event is merely a Kickstarter. Next year, we will make it even bigger, so students will look forward to this event annually,” Farrel concluded. (Humass Udinus/Alex. Foto: Dok. Fkes Udinus)
