The Postgraduate Economics and Business Faculty at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) echoed its athletic prowess at an international taekwondo event. The prowess was shown by Shaleha Fitriana Yusuf, a Postgraduate Management student at Udinus, at the 2024 Asian Open Police Taekwondo Championship, on Friday, December 6th, 2024.
The championship took place in Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh, Vietnam. On that occasion, Shaleha managed to garner two different medals, including a silver medal in the Women’s Trio Category and a bronze medal in the Women’s U-57kg Category.
Shaleha expressed her pride in being able to contribute to the Indonesian contingent. She revealed that the championship was attended by 2,500 delegations, including athletes, coaches, and officials.
“It’s an honor for me to bring the Indonesian contingent and Udinus a good reputation. At the championship, I competed in two categories, and I earned medals in both categories. On that occasion, I represented the Indonesian contingent with other 21 athletes,” she explained.
Before competing in Vietnam, Shaleha had prepared herself for roughly a month by training her physique and techniques. This championship was also a part of her preparation to compete at the Open Police Championship in Alabama in July 2025.
“Despite having not shown my full prowess, this championship was still a good way to evaluate my training progress and a stepping stone to even higher accomplishments,” Shaleha revealed.
As additional information, the 2024 Asian Open Police Taekwondo Championship was participated by 29 different countries, including Vietnam and other Asian countries, such as Bangladesh, China, Iran, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.
Prof. Dr. Dra. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., the Vice Rector III of Student Affairs at Udinus. Also expressed her appreciation for the dedication and commitment shown by Shaleha in competing for Indonesia. Furthermore, she also thanked Shaleha for winning two medals in an international championship.
