His interest in tourism laid a foundation for a student of the Undergraduate Communication Science Department Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus), named Dede Katrisna Maulidin, to participate in the Tourism Contest of Magelang Regency in 2023, his second year studying at Udinus. At that time, he triumphantly competed against hundreds of other participants, earning a ticket to be among the four finalists.
The title of the Personality Champion of Tourism Ambassador of Magelang Regency 2023 was earned by him. To this day, Dede is still actively involved in promoting tourism of Magelang Regency.
“Magelang Regency has a nationally prioritized tourist attraction, namely, the Borobudur Temple. This is a plus point for us to promote the tourism sector in Magelang Regency as a whole. In 2023 and earlier this year, I participated in an event called Borobudur Peace & Prosperity Festival,” he explained.
On campus, Dede, born in 2003, is also an active member of student organizations, including the Student Executive Board of the Computer Science Faculty (BEM FIK) at Udinus and the Gita Dian Nuswa Student Choir Group.
“In the choir group, I once earned a Gold Medal in the Karangturi International Choir Festival. I have been singing since I was in elementary. This hobby even led me to scholarships provided by Udinus,” he revealed.
Additionally, Dede uttered that last year, in 2024, he also participated in the Regional Student Art Week (Peksimida) of Central Java, and emerged as the top 15. With his dedication and talents, Dede managed to secure a silver medal at the Peksimida.
“I also sang for the jingle for the Student Orientation of the Computer Science Faculty. It is indeed a proud experience, as I could make an impact on the campus. Moreover, the jingle is played in other events involving the Computer Science Faculty,” he continued.
Supportive Campus Atmosphere
Dede admitted that the atmosphere on campus was befitting, particularly for a non-academic environment.
“I think the Student Affairs staff on campus has done a great job, as they can balance their students’ academic and non-academic feats. Students are always given attention and support to advance for the better,” he revealed.
