Emerging as a champion consecutively for a year is not an easy matter. However, this is not an impossible task, at least for Nova Amelia Marantika, a Medical Record and Information at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus). Nova once again earned two prestigious trophies in the women’s lead wall-climbing category at the 2019 International Wall Climbing Youth Image. She was also listed as one of the most talented athletes in the ‘Aldakawanaseta’ unit at Udinus, which is also a nature-loving organization. From August 2018 to July 2019, she triumphantly garnered ten trophies at various wall-climbing competitions.

Nova claimed that those ten trophies had reached the target. During her busy days of competitions, she participated in those competitions with utmost pleasure and without feeling burdened the tiniest bit. Despite her tight schedule for participating in competitions, she still prioritizes her studies over everything. “I targeted to get ten trophies and it turned out that I managed to do so. At the end of this month, I can still gather more trophies at the same event. As for my studies, I normally spare some of my time after training to do assignments and study,” Nova, born on February 9, 1997, uttered.

Her busy training schedules do not push Nova to complain. In fact, she sees this busy activity of hers as a form of motivation to showcase her best performance at several events. Her self-control is also one of the key aspects to achieving her champion title. “The main key is to be relaxed and not give up at the competition because there are lots of things that hinder the athlete’s confidence. I will not be satisfied with these trophies; as a matter of fact, they serve as a stepping stone for me to give it my all in every sports event,” she uttered.

At the 2019 International Wall Climbing Youth Image hosted at Universitas Negeri Jakarta, she became the grand champion and the champion of the women’s lead category. Nova successfully outclassed other participants from many different cities in Indonesia. (Humas Udinus/Lex/AT/ Foto: Alex Devanda)
