An e-sports team at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) Semarang successfully grasped second place in Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) Mobile. This runner-up title was garnered upon defeating dozens of teams at the recent 2022 Tidar Cup.
The event, held by a public university in Magelang Regency, consisted of various video game branches, including Free Fire and PUBG Mobile. In the PUBG Mobile category, an E-Sports Team at Udinus known as UdinusXGod emerged as the runner-up.
The team consisted of five students from various departments, with Faiz Hanantya R. (an Animation student) being the team leader and a rusher. Two other members, namely, Valentino Jordy also served as a rusher, and Raditya Arya W acted as the sniper or supporter, both of whom are Information Systems students.
Meanwhile, Bintang Akbar from the Undergraduate Management Department assumed the role of in-game leader. Furthermore, a Visual Communication Design student named Romeo Damar D served as a flanker. Every team member in the UdinusXGod team had their respective roles and gave support to each other.
During his interview, the team leader, Faiz, stated that the team had been heavily prepared for the competition by honing their teamwork skills. All team members held their own respective roles, so teamwork was essentially an important factor for them to win the game. For that reason, Faiz and his team did not look down upon their opponents. According to him, the support provided by the academic community heavily impacted their performance in the game.
“Good strategy and communication between team members are crucial for us to win. Hopefully, from here on, we can keep maintaining our solidarity to make a name for the campus on the national level,” he added.
The competition, in which many prominent e-sports teams participated, was held online during the qualification phase. Once it got to the final stage, the event was hosted offline. This whole competition mainly took place in October of 2022.
On a different occasion, Dr. Rindra Yusianto, S.Kom., M.T., the Head of the Student Affairs Bureau at Udinus, was proud of this phenomenal accomplishment. He hoped for this success to encourage other students to aim for the best.
“I hereby congratulate these talented E-Sports players for making a name for our campus. It shows that the E-Sports Community from Udinus is currently on the national level,” he concluded. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Humas Udinus)
