PARTICIPATED IN THE INDEPENDENT CAMPUS PROGRAM, OCTA, A COMMUNICATION SCIENCE STUDENT AT UDINUS, TIED RELATIONS WITH MANY DIFFERENT PEOPLE ACROSS THE GLOBE

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek) has recently launched the Independent Campus Program (MBKM) aiming to prepare students for the industry. Octaliongni Sun Hatami, a Communication Science Student at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus), took her chance to participate in the International Campus Program (KPI).

 

During her participation in the International Campus Program (KPI), Octa got the opportunity to participate in an internship program at Botree Communications in India. She participated in this virtual internship program for a month in July 2021. Octa had learned various topics in the program including, Indonesian and International brand analysis and copywriting.

“I was dispatched in the branding and advertising sections, there are lots of things tied with Communication Science for me to implement. Even though it was a virtual program, that was truly an amazing opportunity to learn a new culture,” uttered the owner of @octaliongni18 Instagram account.

 

To join the Independent Campus Program, Octa, born on October 18th, 2000, had to complete several requirements including a TOEFL score of 400 or higher, filling files, and conducting the Rotary partnership. “Not only that but I was also provided with the necessary knowledge to prepare for the interview conducted by the organizer,” Octa added.

 

In the same program, Octa also participated in a virtual exchange activity participated by students from many different countries in ASEAN. During that two-week activity, she was grateful for being able to tie relations with many friends from Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, and India.

“I have always been interested in gathering new relations, being able to befriend foreigners with different languages and cultures is such a nice thing to do,” Octa, a student of the 2018 cohort, shared.

 

Octa, a secretary of the Student Council Representatives in the Faculty of Computer Science (DPM FIK) for the 2020/2021 period, claimed that she had gathered many pieces of knowledge during her study at Udinus including, public speaking, leadership, event organizing, and entrepreneurship skills to run a business. Those skills are often implemented by Octa as a master of ceremony at organizational activities and community events.
