A book entitled ‘Public Relations Strategic Management: Theory and Practice of Corporate and Government Public Relations’ has successfully been published by PR Indonesia 2018. Heni Indrayani, M.I.Kom was one of the writers representing faculty members in the Department of Communication Science at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus).

Heni explained that the book emerged as the result of collaboration tied by Public Relations (PR) Indonesia Fellowship 2018, which was a competition hosted by PR Indonesia to form a team. The team consisted of academics, governmental public relations, and corporate public relations. “After a long discussion, we decided to come up with Public Relations Strategic Management as the theme of the book. This is because the theme plays an important role in strategic position and communicating policies both internally and externally,” she revealed.

In the book, Heni and her team managed to create a comprehensive work combining theory and practice aspects applied in the realm of governmental and corporate PR. There were three chapters in the book discussing the foundation of how PR functions theoretically, efforts taken by the governmental PR to conduct a communication approach to resolve problems revolving around the nation, and how corporations run their strategic management function. “The 4.0 Industry pushes Public Relations (PR) to evolve, not only technically, but also explaining the function of strategic management as such things also usually emerge in our daily lives,” Heni explained.

Heni claimed that she did not encounter any difficult problems in the writing process. “Although the three of us do not work in the same field of expertise, we still possess the same interest, which is to better the public relations industry in Indonesia. That is the reason why we could coordinate well as a team.,” she uttered.

In the current digital era, Public Relations’ role in conveying information is pushed to greater heights. “Hopefully, Public Relations could be more adaptive with the strategic function to communicate technological adoption to all stakeholders, as well as keep strategically improving,” she hoped.
