Walking in her parents’ footsteps, who were also taekwondo athletes serves as a motivation for Talitha Laliba Rahmawati (18), a Communication Student at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus), to shine her lights as a taekwondo athlete.

Talitha has successfully earned lots of trophies as an athlete. Recently, she got the opportunity to grasp various accomplishments, including third place in the women’s single Poomsae category at the 2018 Junior National Championship, third place in the women’s group Poomsae category at the 2018 Junior National Championship, and first place in the women’s group Poomsae category at the 2019 pre-PON. Not long ago, Udinus triumphantly emerged as the champion, outclassing 2000 athletes from 10 different countries at the 2019 Pugnator Bandung Sport Tourism Taekwondo International Championship, with Talitha being the athlete bestowed with the best performance title in the Poomsae category.

Being able to make their parents proud with achievements is the pinnacle of happiness for any good athlete. “It’s fun to be an athlete as I could be familiar with many places in addition to being accomplished. Also, having met new friends may also be a plus point,” Talitha, born on April 13, 2001, in Semarang, uttered.

Taekwondo is one of the several units at Udinus concerned with martial arts, and Talitha is one of its active members. She claimed that she was glad to have the opportunity to gather new friends in that unit. To maintain her time properly, Talitha occasionally makes a schedule for training, studies, and rest. “I could gather new friends of the same hobby and experience within the Taekwondo unit. I also have my dedicated schedule for training, campus activities, and breaks, so every second counts,” she revealed.

Seeing her older sibling getting a medal was one of the many things pushing her to do the same in the Taekwondo sports branch.

Talitha admitted that she will not stop pursuing this passion of hers. Moreover, she was proud to present more and more accomplishments for the campus. Upon graduating from campus, she aims to continue her studies to the postgraduate degree and develop her Taekwondo skills. “Hopefully, I could keep pursuing the development of Taekwondo and take the name of the campus to the next level. In addition, I also intend to continue the legacy of our dojang,” Talitha concluded. (Humas Udinus/Haris. Foto: Dok. Pribadi)
