Four students of Universitas Dian Nuswantoro successfully gained four medals at the 2018 Pencak Silat Championship Universitas Semarang. Those students managed to win third place in four different categories.

Those four students mainly consisted of Informatics students, including Agus Prasetyo, who achieved a bronze medal in the F (70-75kg) category, and Huda Fatchurrohman, who gained a bronze medal in the men’s single category. Meanwhile, Sultan Atha Naufal also garnered the same kind of medal in the G (76-80kg) category, and Zulfikar Adi Saputra managed to grasp a bronze medal in the A (45-50kg). 

The medalist and the Chief of Silat Community at Udinus, Agus Prasetyo stated that the athletes had done the best they could at the competition. However, the lack of preparation might also contribute to the fact that the athletes were overwhelmed at the championship. “We had been training for two months prior to the competition and concentrating on improving our skills and stamina. However, our opponents were tough and skilled,” he uttered. 

They triumphantly claimed victories over 160 other participants in the college student category with stamina and skills as their main obstacles. The Pencak Silat Community at Udinus is a relatively new community on campus, established in early 2018.

The Silat Community will aim to prepare for the upcoming competition and achieve the best possible results. “Our target is to garner a gold medal and make a name for our campus in various Silat championships. We would like to prepare as early as possible by focusing on training our skills and enhancing our stamina to avoid being easily fatigued,” Agus Prasetyo revealed.

Meanwhile, Agus Triyono, S.Sos, MSi., the Head of Public Relations at Udinus, emphasized that the campus would like to guide its students to accomplishments through soft skills and hard skills. “Students should not only rely on their hard skills as soft skills may also benefit them for their upcoming career in the industry,” he concluded.
