Alya Novianda (23), a graduate of Visual and Communication Design (DKV) at Univesitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) oversaw the opportunity to open a digital marketing business named ‘Pop Creative’ since the beginning year of 2021.

Pop Creative is a company located in Cianjur, West Java. It offers various services such as social media maintenance, design, and copywriting. The girl called Ovie is currently running her business along with a team of 5 freelancers. In addition to that, she is responsible for human resource management and acts as a connector to clients. As soon as the customer agreed with the pricing, Ovie and her team would start to design.

“When a client gives a new brand, my team and I would focus on that brand logo. Giving a specific color as a characteristic that can be used as a mark for us to design all of the visual brand assets,” explained Ovie during the interview.

Ovie, born in Jakarta, on November 22nd, 1998 could earn up to 15 million rupiah worth of turnover. Her most requested service is a maintenance service that focuses on Instagram. For a full month, Ovie would upload a design once every two days, including Saturday and Sunday. The trouble that she faced daily was adapting a design that fits with the consumer’s brand.

“The first three month is the most tiring part, because we have to find the right design for the client. After deciding the design, the next thing that we would do is to align with the quality of the assets that are being used,” said the owner of Instagram account @alyanoviandaa.

Ovie had been actively participating in the design division of Wartadinus Campus Pers Unit, which unintentionally became her main reason to pursue a career in the design realm. At first, she chose the Visual and Communication Design (DKV) Program with no interest in graphic design. But, thanks to the supportive campus atmosphere, she was able to keep up with other students learning basic elements at DKV.

“I don’t regret anything that I’ve done it the past. All of those valuable moments that I got from college are the one that support me right now, creating my own business, which by the way you can look it up on Instagram @popcreativelabs. I hope that this story can be a form of support for young generation to develop their creativity.” Said Ovie (Dinus Public Relation/Haris. Photo: Personal Doc)
