The women’s basketball team from Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) triumphantly emerged as the runner-up at the Basketball: Kaskus Central Java and Special Region of Yogyakarta Conference Season 7 Student League or ‘Liga Mahasiswa’ (LIMA). The league consisted of twelve women’s teams and sixteen men’s teams from various universities scattered around Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta.

The tournament was hosted at the Sports Hall of the Soegijapranata Catholic University, Semarang. In the semifinal phase, the women’s team, fronted by Sofiani Widi Astuti and her friends, emerged as a finalist upon defeating the team from Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) in the semifinal with a score of 63-47. However, the women’s team from Udinus had to admit defeat before the home team with a score of 57-47.

The leader of the Basketball unit at Udinus, Lady Dita Aditiya, explained that in 2019, both the men’s and women’s teams had slightly lower performance compared to the previous year. This was because the teams were undergoing a regeneration process for the players.

“We have fought to our fullest capacity, but we haven’t yet been able to present a champion trophy to the campus at the 2019 Student League. However, our fight is far from over, as we are committed to training even harder. This runner-up title only makes us harden our efforts,” she uttered.

This runner-up was only attained by the women’s team, as the men’s team could merely claim fourth place at the event. The Student League or Liga Mahasiswa (LIMA) itself is a private organization established on May 15, 2012. LIMA aims to provide a platform for college students in Indonesia, particularly in the field of sports. Not only does LIMA engage in the basketball sports branch, but it also facilitates students in several other sports branches, including badminton and futsal.
