The 3 x 3 Basketball Competition was committed to encouraging young basketball athletes from Central Java and Yogyakarta. This competition itself was a part of the 2023 Dinus Festival (Dinusfest) hosted by Universitas Dian Nuswnatoro (Udinus). The competition took place at the Patriot Sports building, Plombokan, Semarang, on Friday, January 20th, 2023.

The basketball competition, which was organized by the Basketball Unit at Udinus, was participated by more than 204 people. Those participants came from various high schools within Central Java and Yogyakarta, including SMK N 3 Kendal, SMK N 11 Semarang, MAN 1 Banjarnegara, and SMA N 1 Purwodadi.

On that occasion, the competition was officially opened by Dr. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., the Vice Chancellor III of Student Affairs, alongside Dr. Rindra Yusianto, M.T., the Head of the Student Affairs Bureau at Udinus. It was opened with an opening ceremony, which would later be continued with a symbolic jersey handover to one of the participants.

Fariza Yahya Ananda, the head of the committee, explained that the competition was divided into several categories, namely, high school, and general public U20-23 for both men and women. Each team consisted of three main players and three substitute players.

“At this event, every team competes for prizes in the form of money, certificates, and trophies. All participants and the audience were also seen enthusiastic with the excitement for the three-point and the alley-oop minigames prior to the main competition,” he explained.

One of the participants, Angela Sharon, admitted that she was excited to participate in this basketball competition. She and her team had trained their mentality and teamwork for this very moment to showcase the best possible performance. “In this basketball competition, we finally get to try our skills as well as meet other talented athletes from various high schools,” she revealed.

Dr. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., the Vice Chancellor III of Student Affairs, hoped for this competition to garner talented young basketball athletes, particularly from Central Java and Yogyakarta. In addition to their respective contingents, these athletes were also expected to reinforce Indonesia for the years to come.

“The enthusiasm sparked by all participants was fairly intense from start to finish. Hopefully, the 3 x 3 Basketball competition can serve as a stepping stone for them to embark on their career as professional athletes,” she concluded.

In addition to sports, the 2023 Dinusfest also featured other kinds of competitions, including arts and scientific papers. The participants will later be entertained by a singer from Jakarta at the closing ceremony on January 29th, 2023. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Humas Udinus)
