Two taekwondo athletes from Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) successfully garnered medals at an international event. The athletes, Talitha Laliba Rahmawinati and Dinda Putri were able to earn three gold medals and the Best Poomsae Athlete title at the 2023 Pattaya Choi Young Sek Cup International Taekwondo Championship, Thailand.

At the event, Talitha Laliba, a Communication Science student, managed to bring two gold medals in the women’s single poomsae senior category and women’s team poomsae senior category. Furthermore, she was also bestowed the title of the Best Poomsae Player at the said international event.

Meanwhile, Dinda Putri, a Management student, once again added a new medal to her collection by claiming gold medals in the women’s kyorugi U73 senior category. The International Taekwondo Championship took place from February 11th to 12th, 2023, at the Eastern National Sports Training Center.

During her interview, Talitha could not help but express her pride for managing to garner a gold medal for Indonesia at an international competition. She further revealed that she had persistently been training for several international competitions. That event served as an opportunity for her to glance at the playstyle possessed by her opponents from many different countries. In addition, she also got unforgettable experiences, allowing her to always be passionate and give her best for both Indonesia and Udinus.

“I did not expect to claim two gold medals in two different categories and be bestowed the Best Poomsae Title. My hard and routine training has finally come to fruition,” Talitha revealed.

Dr. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., the Vice Chancellor III of Student Affairs, expressed her pride for the three medals and the Best Poomsae Player title accomplished by students. Furthermore, she revealed that the academic community would always fully facilitate these athletes to earn many more achievements.

“I hereby congratulate Talitha and Dinda for achieving remarkable feats at the 2023 Pattaya Choi Young Seok Cup International Taekwondo Championship. Hopefully, these accomplishments could motivate other students to follow in their footsteps," she said.

Udinus also routinely appreciates their accomplished students in the form of scholarships. In addition to Talitha and Dinda, there are other accomplished athletes from Udinus, namely, Pratama Arhan and Hendriansyah. Currently, Hendriansyah has successfully established his business known as Culture Academy Indonesia, which has been renamed SMEs Pack. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Bima Udinus)
