Garbage has always been a problem within a society. In response to this particular matter, the Information Systems Student Association at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) shared insight regarding digital garbage management with locals of West Semarang through the usage of an app, namely, Sistem Resik Becik (Sikecik).

This occasion was packaged in the form of a socialization event taking place on the sixth floor of the I building. The event was attended by a number of guests, including the Community Empowerment Agency of West Semarang, the Family Welfare Program team, and youth organizations. Meanwhile, on behalf of the whole academic community at Udinus, Dr. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., (the Vice Chancellor III of Student Affairs) was present to open the event.

During her greeting, Dr. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., stated the event initially began as a community service conducted by the Information Systems Student Association in the Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPKO). Thus, an app known as Sikecik was created as a product of the program.

“After being successfully funded, we further developed this app, meaning that we did not only win and finish. We also utilized the Sikecik app to digitally manage garbage in West Semarang, particularly Krobokan,” she added.

Following that occasion, Dianna Yanuaresta, a representative from the student association, gave further explanation concerning Sikecik. On that occasion, she also presented a simulation of using the app to prevent confusion. Moreover, this app was also equipped with several features, including garbage pickup, balance withdrawal, and product creation that might benefit users.

Prior to this event, Galuh Wilujeng Saraswati, M.Cs., the Student Coordinator, presented a learning material discussing garbage. She mentioned that in less than five years if the garbage were not properly managed, it would open the possibility of opening another garbage dump in Semarang. This is because the landfill in Jatibarang will eventually be full.

“For this reason, the garbage management with a new paradigm through the usage of Sikecik is expected to reduce the monthly garbage volume,” she concluded.

For additional information, Sikecik is equipped with the Internet of Things (IoT) that will give the users the most accurate data. Also, this app is available on the Google Play Store. (Humas Udinus/Ika. Foto: Alex)
