The Department of Japanese Literature at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) will once again be chosen as the host of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), which will be publicly open in July.

The Department of Japanese Literature, which is a part of the Faculty of Humanities at Udinus, has indeed been routinely hosting the JLPT since 2017 on behalf of the Central Java Province. For additional information, the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, or JLPT for short, is an international certification test for Japanese language competency provided by the Japanese government through an institution known as the Japan Foundation. The test is conducted simultaneously on Sundays at the beginning of July and December.

The Head Organizer of the JLPT at Udinus, Tri Mulyani Wahyuningsih, SS., M.Hum., stated that the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) at Udinus would be hosted on July 2nd, 2023. Furthermore, she explained that the registration would be open from March 27th to 30th, 2023, through an online platform.

Unlike previous years, in which the registration only lasted a day, this year’s test registration will last three days. In addition, both Indonesian and foreign participants are allowed to partake in this test.

“The information concerning the registration is available on https://jlptonline.or.id/  and the Japan Foundation, Jakarta official YouTube channel. As for the capacity, the quota of the JLPT test in Semarang is limited to only 1500 participants,” she explained.

Tri Mulyani further added that the test encompasses several aspects, including vocabulary mastery and Kanji, grammar and reading comprehension, as well as listening skills. In order for the participants to pass, they need to get a minimum score of 80 out of 100.

“Generally, the certificate output from this test can potentially serve as a portfolio to find a job in Japan or Japanese corporations for that matter. Additionally, through this certificate, participants can also apply for studies and internship programs in Japan,” she added.

The JLPT consists of five different levels, with N1 being the highest and N5 being the lowest one. The letter N is an abbreviation of Noryokushiken, which means Japanese Language Proficiency Test.

In Indonesia, the JLPT is commonly hosted in various different cities, namely, Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Medan, Yogyakarta, Padang, Denpasar, Manado, Makassar, Palembang, Malang, and Semarang.
