A Taekwondo athlete from Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus), Dinda Putri Lestari, presented a new bronze medal for the Indonesia contingent at the 2023 SEA Games in the Women’s Kyorugi – 73Kg category.

The competition took place at the Chroy Changvar International Convention Center, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on Saturday, May 13th, 2023. In the Taekwondo sports branch, Indonesia dispatched eleven athletes to gather medals. As a result, one of the athletes, Dinda, triumphantly claimed the bronze medal, similar to her accomplishment the previous year.

During her interview, Dinda, a Management student at Udinus, revealed that it was a pleasure for her to compete and gather medals for Indonesia. In contrast to the previous year’s SEA Games, where she participated in the Women’s Kyorugi -62 Kg category, this year, Dinda competed in the Women’s Kyorugi -73 kg category.

“It is indeed a pleasure and a token of pride for me to present a medal to Indonesia. Also, athletes from other countries showcased their best performance, and they were tough,” she explained.

Thus far, the Taekwondo sports branch has garnered two bronze medals and two silver medals. Several categories in this sports branch are still being competed, and potentially, Indonesian athletes will be able to garner other medals. Currently, Indonesia is in third place with 70 gold medals, 60 silver medals, and 80 bronze medals, making them 210 in total.

Dr. Kusni Ingsih, M.M., the Vice Chancellor III of Student Affairs at Udinus, expressed her utmost pride and congratulated Dinda on her newly acquired bronze medal. Moreover, Kusni and the whole academic community on campus also provided support to all seven students competing at the 2023 SEA Games. She hoped for those students to keep up their good work.

“Hopefully, our seven athletes could achieve gold medals for Indonesia in their respective sports branches. Moreover, we will always fully support these athletes. Unleash your inner potential and Udinus for Indonesia!” Kusni emphasized. (Humas Udinus/Alex. Foto: Dok. Pribadi)
