It takes hard and persistent training for an athlete to become skillful in a sports branch. For this reason, the Basketball Unit at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) participated in a coaching clinic with the Indonesian National Basketball Team, namely, the Indonesian Patriots.

The event, themed ‘Coaching Clinic with Indonesia Patriots,’ took place in the Nakula Basketball Court, on Tuesday, March 14th, 2023, with several members of the Basketball Unit at Udinus being the participants. On that occasion, they were directly trained under the instruction of the Indonesian Patriots.

David Ferdianto, the Chief of the Basketball Unit, revealed that this coaching clinic was particularly special. This is because the Basketball Unit was offered directly by the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL), which is currently hosting a championship in Semarang.

“This is our first coaching clinic with the IBL. Not only were we allowed to be directly trained, but we also engaged in a sharing session with the Indonesian Patriots, and there were lots of things we learned from these experienced athletes,” he revealed.

Through this training session, David hoped for all members of the Basketball Unit to hone their individual and team skill . Additionally, he also hoped for this training to be perfected, both by the main team and other members.

“We will always support both the main team and other members, and the only difference between the two is their obligations. The members consisted in the main team are specialized to represent our campus in basketball competitions,” he explained.

One of the coaches of the Indonesian Patriots, Tyler Arturo Farias, gave various instructions to the members of the Basketball Unit at Udinus. Moreover, he also provided several examples by showing movements, which were expected to expand their knowledge in the tournament.

“This coaching clinic serves as our gratitude to Udinus for providing a facility at the Udinus Sports Center to several teams that participated in the IBL to train,” he concluded.

In addition, several prominent players of the Indonesian Patriots were also present on the same occasion. Those athletes are Justin Wiyatno, Erick Ibrahim, Mohammed Aymane, and Serigne Modou Kane. (Humas Udinus/Ika. Foto: Humas Udinus)
