During the 81st graduation ceremony of Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus), 734 graduates celebrated their achievement by raising the red and white flag, coinciding with Indonesian Independence Day. This proud moment, held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, was shared with their parents or guardians.
In his address, Udinus Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ir Edi Noersasongko, M.Kom., announced that this year over 2000 students would be graduating from Udinus, demonstrating the effectiveness and timeliness of their educational system.
Prof. Edi noted, "Many of our graduates wear cum laude sashes, reflecting their academic excellence. We encourage our lecturers to equip students with quality knowledge, preparing them to become entrepreneurs or industry professionals."
The Chancellor also highlighted the significance of raising the red and white flag during the 79th Independence Day celebration, emphasizing its role in fostering the spirit of nationalism among Udinus graduates, who are poised to be the nation's future leaders.
"Our nation has made significant progress, with educational opportunities available in every field, up to the level of professor. I congratulate all graduates who will continue to elevate our country," he added.
This graduation period saw students from 20 study programs completing their degrees, including 1 Doctoral Program, 2 Master's Programs, 12 Bachelor's Programs, 3 Applied Bachelor's Programs, and 2 Diploma Programs. The ceremonial event was held in the Poncowati room at Patra Semarang Hotel & Convention.
Udinus graduates are not only celebrated for their timely completion but are also encouraged to innovate using technological advancements. Udinus' recent accolade as the third-best university in Indonesia for innovation, according to the 2024 Scimago Institutions Rankings (SIR), attests to this.
"SIR is an international academic and research ranking institution. Their evaluations are based on three indicators: research performance, innovation output, and social impact through website visibility," Prof. Edi explained.
Among Udinus' renowned innovations are the Udinus Campus Electric Pedicab (Becik-KU), the Udinus Campus Chess Robot (Roca-KU), the Sekar Nuswantoro Gamelan Robot, Metaverse Gamelan, E-Gamelanku, AR/VR Budhara, VR Museum, and many others.
The ceremony was attended by the entire Udinus senate and the Chairman of the Udinus Alumni Association (IKA), Major General TNI Drs.Nugroho Sulistiyo Budi, M.M., who also extended his congratulations to the graduates.
Indira Majestica, one of the top graduates from the English Language Bachelor's Program, shared her positive experience at Udinus. "Studying at Udinus has been enjoyable, with lecturers providing full support. The university offers a conducive environment for participating in student organizations and internships," she said.
"Through Udinus, I learned a lot about public speaking and gained confidence in communicating publicly. My involvement with the Udinus English Student Association (HMBI) taught me to be a master of ceremony at campus events, which eventually led to my internship in the media," Indira, who earned a Bachelor of Literature (S.Li) degree, concluded (Udinus Public Relations/Alex.
