With the dynamicity of the modern age, one must have adaptive skills. This dynamicity pushed Putri Novitasari, an Alumna of the Management Department at Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (Udinus) to be adaptive. In 2020, she decided to quit her job to establish an F&B business named Kudapan Mungil.
Novitasari, commonly known as Nopee, claimed that she took this decision because of COVID-19, which at that time was devastating. Before she built her business, Nopee worked at an agency in Semarang.
The business has run for three years, with a variety of food menus, particularly dim sum of many variants, including wonton, gyoza, and chicken noodle.
Nopee, born in 1996, stated that her culinary hobby motivated her to start this business in the first place.
“I am so fond of eating basically any snack. Initially, I only made the snack for myself, but my family and friends said that it was good, so with my risky determination, I decided to start this business,” he uttered.
Currently, Nopee’s business operates online and offline. The business is based in Kalidoro Lor Area, Bulucangkring Village, Jekulo Sub-district, Kudus Regency. As for her online promotion, Nopee used her own Instagram account, @kudapan.mungil.
“Through this business, I could earn Rp. 2 million a month. I sell my products near my home, which is located in a rural area,” she continued.
Challenges in Maintaining a Business
During her time managing her business, Nopee, who is also a native of Kudus, mentioned that the most challenging aspects are consistency and creativity from herself. According to her, these two aspects were difficult to manage, as they directly affect the existence and stability of a business.
“If I were to lose even the tiniest glimmer of motivation, my business would also lose its ground to stand. Hence, the most crucial things an entrepreneur must hold are consistency, focus, and dedication. Don’t ever stop trying, as a business will not stand overnight, and there will certainly be ups and downs,” he emphasized.
In addition, Nopee added that the next most difficult challenge was competitors. This is because F&B businesses tend to have similarities with each other.
However, Nopee, an Alumna of the 2017 Class at Udinus, revealed that these challenges could be mitigated by being creative in experimenting with recipes and menu variants. Nopee also said that a business could stem from hobbies. No matter how small, a hobby would be meaningful if it could be something productive.
“My next target is to lead Kudapan Mungil to a major growth and has its own production center, allowing it to reduce unemployment,” she concluded. (Humas Udinus/Ika. Foto: Dok. Pribadi)
